The Bell and Killmade Burn
Take B6369 from A1 at Haddington to Gifford and then B6355 East to Whiteadder Reservoir (NT666633).
|
A picnic area is just past the reservoir if you are coming from the Edinburgh/Gifford direction (or just before, if you are coming from the Chirnside/Duns direction along the B6355). Northern Brown Argus can be seen sporadically along the roadside verge nectaring on flowers such as thyme.
There is a colony of Dark Green Fritillaries along Killmade Burn which runs into the burn issuing from the reservoir (Whiteadder Water) opposite the picnic area. However, this species is very mobile and can often be seen nectaring on the roadside flowers at peak emergence.
